How long is my Declaration of Conformity valid?

The Declaration of Conformity is valid for an indefinite period after the essential safety requirements of the product have been determined and remains valid for products to which no important changes have been made. Important changes include repairs which alter the original operation, goal or type.

Products to which changes are made which alter the original operation, goal or type of a product after it has been used are regarded as new products. This includes using other components or new deliverers. When such changes occur, the product must be recertified, possibly based on the previous certification. A new Declaration of Conformity will have to be drawn up in accordance with the applicable Directives and/or standards.
