In which language should the Declaration of Conformity be drafted?

The Declaration of Conformity (DoC) must be drafted in one of the official languages of the European Union (EU) / European Economic Area (EEA). The specific language in which the DoC should be drafted depends on the specific regulations of the country where the product is being placed on the market. In the EU and the EEA, the official languages of each member state are generally acceptable.

Please keep in mind the DoC must be legible for the end user, therefore it is important to consider, when drafting the DoC, the official accepted languages of the country where the product will be put into use. English is often accepted as a common language for documentation, even in countries where it’s not the official language. This can be particularly useful for international trade and for making the documentation accessible to a broader audience.
