There is a number on the Declaration of Conformity. Can the authenticity be proven by means of this number?

The authenticity of the EC/EU Declaration of Conformity (DoC) can not be proven by means of a number on the DoC. The authencity of a DoC can only be ensured by the responsible party (the manufacturer or their Authorised Representative). The contact information of the responsible party is indicated on the DoC and you can use this information to contact the specific party directly.

In most cases, the number on the DoC refers to the identification number of the Notified Body that performed the conformity assessment. You can use this number to search for the Notified Body on the NANDO website. On this site you can also find an up-to-date list of all Notified Bodies per country and/or directive/regulation. In this case you can contact the Notified Body to verify the document’s authenticity.

It’s important to remember that the DoC is a legal document that attests to a product’s compliance with relevant EU directives and regulations. Verifying its authenticity is crucial, especially when dealing with customs, regulatory authorities, or when evaluating the safety and quality of products. If you have any doubts about the DoC’s authenticity, please contact us and we can check with the relevant authorities or the manufacturer for clarification and verification.
